A beginning in art, care, and finding our way back to ourselves.
Project Sunshine started as a page in my notebook.
At the top, I wrote “women’s wellness.” Underneath, I began listing the things I wanted to create, learn, and share: art, writing, movement, meditation, and a supportive community. Looking at that page, I realized how much of my future I imagined around helping women feel good and empowered.
I’m still figuring out what that will look like. But I wanted to begin here.
As a hairstylist, creativity and wellness has been part of my working life. Now, I want to give more space to my paintings, my writing, and my interest in caring for ourselves beyond what other people can see.
When I think about women’s wellness, I think about having room to ask: How am I actually feeling? What do I need? What have I been putting aside that matters to me?
Sometimes that might mean moving our bodies or sitting quietly. Sometimes it might mean making something, setting a boundary, or being around people who let us be ourselves.
Art is part of that vision for me. So is the possibility of building a community where women can feel supported while they explore what makes them feel strong, creative, and connected.
The name Project Sunshine holds the feeling I want to bring to this space: a little warmth, a little breathing room, and something to look forward to. There is room here for the days when feeling hopeful takes effort.
For now, I’ll be sharing my work, my thoughts, and what I’m learning. I want to let this grow thoughtfully.
Maybe you’re making room for something in your own life, too.
What is one small thing that helps you feel like yourself?
Welcome to Project Sunshine.
